Embracing Innovation in Home Care: The Project Ethel Pilot

Exploring Technology in Home Care

At Caring Care, we are committed to enhancing home care services with innovative solutions that support independent living. One such initiative has been our involvement in Project Ethel, a forward-thinking pilot in partnership with Wolverhampton City Council.

Project Ethel aimed to integrate technology into home care by introducing Wi-Fi-enabled tablets into service users’ homes. This digital tool enabled remote communication, virtual check-ins, and greater connectivity between carers, families, and individuals receiving care. By using technology to supplement traditional home care, the pilot sought to improve engagement, emotional well-being, and overall support for those receiving care at home.

The Impact of Project Ethel on Home Care

Throughout the pilot, Caring Care worked closely with service users to ensure they could comfortably access and benefit from the technology. The Ethel Care tablets were designed to facilitate:

  • Regular communication between individuals and their families.
  • Virtual health check-ins to support well-being.
  • Digital reminders for medication and appointments.
  • Greater independence while maintaining access to care and support.

What’s Next for Home Care and Technology?

As the Project Ethel pilot comes to an end, the focus now shifts to evaluating its results and understanding how technology can continue to enhance home care services in the future. While the pilot phase has concluded, the insights gained will help shape the future of digital solutions in home care.

Caring Care remains committed to embracing innovation and exploring how technology can support high-quality home care. We believe that blending compassionate, person-centred care with digital solutions can help individuals remain independent while receiving the support they need at home.

Looking Ahead

We extend our thanks to Susan Cash and Wolverhampton City Council for their leadership in this initiative. The future of home care is evolving, and we are excited about the potential opportunities to continue incorporating technology-driven solutions to benefit service users.
